India has taken a global lead in animal husbandry innovation with the launch of the world’s first Gig Livestock Network by the PashuSevak Bharat Portal.
The initiative introduces a gig economy model to livestock healthcare, enabling farmers to access on-demand animal husbandry services through AI-driven, location-based matching.
The network integrates independent PashuSevaks, veterinarians, and field service providers into a real-time system supported by disease intelligence platforms such as NADIS™ and ZoonoTrack Bharat™.
Unlike traditional research-led or scheme-based models, the Gig Livestock Network is already operational at the farm level, emphasizing adoption, affordability, and preventive animal healthcare.
With India home to over 500 million livestock, the platform is expected to play a significant role in reducing emergency response times, strengthening disease surveillance, and creating new rural gig employment opportunities.
